After many hours of procrastination tonight. Starting off by looking at cars I want.. Then leading to houses that I want to get..
I concluded that I need a job.
But getting a job is not merely as easy as just saying "I'll have one of them"
Its actually quite fucked.
I hate being an unqualified unskilled teenager.. Sucks big time..
I cant even get a job where I place tins of food from a box onto a shelf.
I now, even to possibly get a chance of getting a job, need to print out around 50 resumes and take them to various stores around Newcastle.. And even if I manage to get one interview from this. Chances are I wont get the job for various reasons. And even if I made it past those reasons I'd get turned down because I have spacers in my ears. Which don't effect my work ethic, or manner in anyway, its just because someone else finds something that I like ugly and they will judge my accordingly.
But I guess i took that into consideration when i started stretching my ears. And i accept it.
Anyway enough of that rant, and back onto topic.
I want to work in the sound industry, that's why I'm doing a sound engineering course, so I decided to look at studios within the Newcastle region. So far I found about 3 that Wernt just some guy working from home or a van (which I have nothing against, its just i doubt they'd want another employee). So tomorrow if i get a chance after doing my Tafe assignment Im going to email them with my resume. Unlikely that I will get a reply. But I am going to email them my resume every 2 weeks from now on, and if I get even some trainee nonpaid sorta work it would still be useful.... But in the sort term Im not sure if that is a viable option for my income, because even if i do get some casual work there, Its bairly going to cover my travel costs etc, but I will get experience, contacts which is what matters..
But in other news. I want to buy some recording equipment like mics, a pc interface, sound card, etc so i can do some basic recordings and get the hang of some programs. This will likely cost me a good part of $1k. But If I get some decent stuff that I can carry on to future recordings or sell on it will be all good. You gotta start somewhere! Im just wondering if having my own smallish recording studio is a viable idea or not.
I figure I can do fairly decent recordings with around $2-3k of gear... Another problem is finding decent rooms to record in.. Its just weither or not I would get enough business or not. But say if i did a bunch of small cheapish recordings for small local taree/newy bands or whatever, and did a decent job on them I might get a bit more known and hopefully get a bit more work.... But it could also all end in failure like most of my ideas!
But it is one of the few things that I feel i am passionate enough and keen to do. I dont think i could ever do a 9-5 job.. It would kill me.. I cant deal with the idea that nothing might happen the next day to change my whole job.. If that makes sense..
But yes. If i can get a small businesses loan from the government, It would be all good in the hood...
fuck.. I better finish this blog off.. Its getting a tad long...
Sorry if you read this.. haha
I also cbfd reading this to see if it makes sense
the end.
