So tonight I went out and saw Land of the Lost, the new Will Ferrel movie, and let me tell you, I am very, very glad that I was being PAID to go, not because I'm some kind of movie reviewer, although I clearly deserve to be, but because McDonalds had a team meeting that I rocked. So, let me start with the word CHEAP. It pretty much sums up the whole movie. Cheap sets, cheap monster suits, cheap acting and cheap laughs.
Now I unashameadly admit that I am a fan of Will Ferrel's irreverent style of comedy, and personally I believe that he is one of the foremost comics of his time, however, even his attempts at humour were more often miss than hit. I'm sad to say that this movie, along with Semi-Pro, has lowered my opinion of not Ferrel, but the movie companies themselves, assuming that by throwing a comic genius at a movie, without a shred of script and with an incredible amount of budget cutting in order to maximise profit, they would make a blockbuster worth millions. Shame on you movie company, shame on you.
The cheapness of this movie, coupled with the dodgy script and the low-brow humour (of which I must say I am often a fan, they just didn't pull it off in this one) force me to give this movie my utter dissapointed face. I'm sorry Will, but this was terrible.
2/5 stars from me, may the next movie blow my f-ing mind.
Signing off, Luis, and yes, I am available for interview regarding a position as a movie reviewer at any major publication. SMH or one of those type papers would do just fine.
